Egypt is partner country of the 13th Software & Systems Quality Conference in Düsseldorf
International congress on software quality
Cologne, 14 February 2008
Once a year, managers, specialists and IT experts from over 20 countries meet in Düsseldorf at the world’s largest conference on software quality. This year, the 13th Software & Systems Quality Conference is being held from 15 to 18 April 2008. For the first time, a partner country—Egypt—is presenting itself at the four-day rendezvous for business and quality experts. The organiser, SQS Software Quality Systems AG, is expecting about 900 people to attend the Congress Center Stadthalle Düsseldorf. Visitors can choose from over 100 talks, tutorials and workshops.
This year’s conference is being held under the patronage of the North Rhine-Westphalian Minister for Innovation and Technology Professor Andreas Pinkwart, and in large part focuses on topics relating to IT security. Two series of talks are dedicated to the ever more pressing topic of system security. The highlight will be the keynote address by Christof Paar, Professor at the Ruhr University, Bochum. He will outline the risks to security over the coming ten years and identify solution scenarios.
The partner country, Egypt, will introduce itself at the conference as a next-generation outsourcing location. For this, Dr Tarek Kamel, the Egyptian Minister of Communication and Information Technology, will be coming to Düsseldorf to give another keynote address describing the strategy and initiatives that his country is using to establish itself as a recognised location for IT outsourcing. Another series of talks will also be dealing with outsourcing, among other things in offshore destinations, with various companies reporting on their experience from IT projects.
Panel of experts to discuss IT offshoring
As well as the talks and workshops, the now largely English-speaking conference will for the first time also have a panel of experts, with high-ranking members. Under the motto “IT Offshoring: New Job Opportunities in Europe”, analysts, service providers and end-user companies will discuss the opportunities and risks of offshore outsourcing for domestic IT business. In addition to market observers such as Frank Ridder from Gartner Deutschland and Klaus Holzhauser from Pierre Audoin Consultants, the panel will include representatives of Dresdner Bank and consulting houses Sogeti and SQS, among others.
The upcoming Software & Systems Quality Conference will be rounded off with an exhibition for service providers and product vendors in the field of quality management and quality assurance. About 45 companies and organisations will be showing what they do.
