Dynamic competition among utilities
For the major utility companies competition has taken a radically different form in recent years. More providers, and open domestic and international markets, have heralded the start of a dynamic phase characterised by restructuring, mergers and a new relationship with customers. When it comes to achieving crucial competitive advantages, IT is almost always one of the key factors.
SQS operates as a partner accompanying this dynamic trend, working for greater efficiency. In our projects with utilities to date, we have achieved three objectives in particular: higher quality systems, automation and acceleration of IT processes. The crucial factor is software quality assurance because this is where great potential for optimisation is waiting to be released. Utilities have to run tests all the time, because constantly changing tariff structures, for example, result in the software being modified - it is always a “work in progress”. Professional test management, test process automation and the integration of software development are the most important levers that SQS pulls to make system development and maintenance a streamlined industrial process.
